PARENTING
“It takes a village” not because children need so much, but because parents need support too. Navigating the path of our kids’ distinct personalities, temperaments, desires, and needs can be overwhelming, but there are effective strategies and responses that can make a real difference. In the heat of the moment it’s easy to lose sight of our best intentions, and that's when it’s most important for parents and children to be able to work together. By better understanding yourself and your child, and developing tailored strategies for challenging moments, you will be more equipped to stay calm and grounded during those moments. I've helped many parents find reliable solutions to the unique struggles they face, whether with toddlers or young adults. Sometimes, it’s as simple as knowing the right words at the right time.

ALCOHOL & SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Problematic alcohol and drug use often co-exists with other mental health issues, hardships, or overwhelming stress. I have worked in the field of addiction recovery for several decades and have supported clients as they have separated their use from its causes, developed and strengthened coping mechanisms, and learned new skills. Using evidenced-based cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and 12-step recovery strategies, many clients have learned to navigate life free of compulsion and regret, and are better able to handle all that comes their way.

ANXIETY, STRESS & TRAUMA
These days everyday stress can seem relentless and acute. Retreats and spa days are great ideas, but they will not address the constant anxiety so many are living with. To do that, most people need reasonable, sustainable, and workable solutions. Developing effective coping skills into habits often requires time, support, encouragement, and reassurance. Mindfulness can become the reflex reaction to life’s stressors. I have taught these techniques to clients and students from 5 to 85 years old.
When care is trauma-informed, therapy becomes a safe and supportive environment in which you are given a voice in developing your own strength-based treatment plans. We know this care is working when you experience an increased sense of safety and have identified positive support networks, which help reinforce healthy coping mechanisms and build resilience.

ADOLESCENCE
Adolescence is a time of significant growth—physical, intellectual, and social. While this period is rich with self-discovery, it can also be a time of uncertainty, insecurity, and emotional turbulence. The primary developmental task during this stage is achieving separation and individuation, which can often feel challenging for teenagers and their families alike.
Teens are deeply engaged in exploring who they are, often contemplating their goals, beliefs, and values. This journey of self-exploration is crucial for building a strong foundation for their future identity and sense of self.
These days, teenagers are facing greater anxiety, depression, and daily stress. As a therapist, I provide compassionate guidance to help adolescents navigate this pivotal stage, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and emotional well-being while also supporting parents and families through the complexities of this transition.

LIFE'S TRANSITIONS
Therapy can provide invaluable support as you navigate life’s transitions, offering a safe space to process complex emotions and explore new perspectives. Whether you’re facing a career change, a move, a shift in a relationship, or dealing with aging or loss, transitions often bring uncertainty, stress, and self-doubt. I’m here to help you understand and make sense of these changes, identify any underlying fears or limiting beliefs, and develop effective coping strategies. Through empathetic listening, reflection, and guidance, my goal is to help you build resilience, adjust your mindset, & find clarity in your evolving sense of self. In this way, therapy not only helps you cope with transitions but can also empower you to embrace new possibilities and thrive in your changing circumstances.
